First look: Robert DeNiro and Edward Norton in Stone

Stone started shooting in May, so it's amazing that they've gotten a trailer out this fast. The film is centered around a convicted arsonist (Edward Norton) looks to manipulate a parole officer (Robert De Niro) into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife (Milla Jovovich) in the lawman's path.

I had been looking forward to this because of Norton and De Niro, but from the looks of the trailer, Jovovich looks like she has the most interesting, if not difficult part to play. She has the most to prove, working with not one, but two very respected actors. Stone opens some time in 2010.

Who's ready for a Rounders sequel?

According to PokerListings.com (apparently we're getting movie news from them now - who knew?) via Get the Big Picture a sequel to 1998's Rounders is a "realistic possibility" and according to writer David Levien, "ideas are percolating."

Dream on dude, you say? None of the now successful, original actors, could possibly be interested in a pointless sequel? Not according to Matt Damon. Damon, tells the site that "everybody would probably come back." And by everybody he means Edward Norton and director John Dahl.

Okay, I'm starting to sound like an asshole here, but can they just NOT? Since when was Rounders begging for a sequel? I liked Rounders mainly because Norton and Damon have good chemistry. But, that's about it. I mean, I get that Damon wants an excuse to bond with his friends and stuff, but we don't we have the Ocean's movies for that process?

De Niro and Norton together again

Production Weekly has announced that Edward Norton and Robert De Niro will star in John Curran's Stone which starts shooting in Pittsburgh and Detroit this May. Both actors previously appeared in 2001's The Score.

Stone is based on a play written by Junebug screenwriter Angus MacLachlan. DeNiro will play a parole officer who befriends a teaching assistant.

John Curran also directed Norton in The Painted Veil.

The strange thing about this project is that the only Edward Norton films I haven't seen are The Score and The Painted Veil, so I'll have to accept the consensus until I get around to watching them. From most accounts The Score was the last good film De Niro starred in (The Good Shepherd notwithstanding), so here's hoping this is a return to form.
