This is another sad bit of news for the summer of 2009. Writer/director/producer John Hughes died at the age of 59 from a heart attack earlier today in New York City, where he was visiting family. He had been taking a morning walk when he collapsed.
His films include Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, National Lampoon's Vacation and the Home Alone series, and he is best known for classic teen films Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, and my personal favorite The Breakfast Club. RIP Mr. Hughes. My teen years would not have been the same without you.
