Hear that? That is the sound of the bottom of the barrel being scraped. The Smurfs movie is going to actually get made. Columbia Pictures has decided that Raja Gosnell should direct it.
Don't know who that is? Don't worry, I didn't either. According to Film Junk, he is the director of cinematic gems like Scooby-Doo, Big Momma's House, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. At least the studio isn't pretending that this is worth our time and hard earned cash. By hiring this guy the studio knows that it's peddling complete crap. The movie will be a mix of live-action and CG, and will be produced in both 2-D and 3-D format (ooh two chances to not watch this), and will open in December 2010.
